Iskandar Puteri, Johor – For many patients, undergoing surgery once meant larger incisions, greater discomfort, longer hospital stays, and an extended recovery period. Today, thanks to advancements in robotic-assisted surgery, many complex procedures can be performed through small incisions, helping patients recover faster and return to their daily lives sooner.

As the first hospital in Southern Malaysia to introduce the da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Gleneagles Hospital Johor (GHJ) continues to lead the region in surgical innovation, recently achieving a significant milestone of more than 500 robotic-assisted surgical cases completed successfully. This achievement further reinforces the hospital's commitment to delivering advanced, patient-centred healthcare through cutting-edge technology and clinical excellence.

The milestone reflects the growing confidence patients place in minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgery, which offers several potential benefits, including smaller scars, reduced blood loss, less post-operative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery compared to conventional open surgery.

Adding to this achievement, Gleneagles Hospital Johor recently became the first hospital in Malaysia to perform a robotic-assisted Left Internal Mammary Artery (LIMA) Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) procedure, led by Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr Adli Azam Mohammad Razi. This landmark accomplishment demonstrates how robotic technology continues to expand the possibilities of complex surgical care while enhancing patient outcomes.
